St Georges Day, at THE ROYAL OAK
23rd April 2011

We love playing at the Royal Oak. This venue has a friendly landlord and landlady, a genuinely sociable local clientele and a wonderful outdoor garden facility already geared up for small bands to perform. It is also a Stonehenge local, we think its the closest pub to Stonehenge and as such should have our support. With Tom and David unable to make this gig we called upon our musical friends to join us and with Summer and Jazz on Bongo drum, + Summers’s uniquely elf like songs we had a very special time. There were not many punters, most having taken advantage of the double bank holiday to go away for the week, and to be honest we performed mostly to kids and goats...yes goats.

Above, regular Druidicca fan Jaz joins Jim on stage and gives a very creditable performance on drums...

Left Jim and Shirly relax before the gig

Right Bex gives me that ‘put that cigarette out’ look

Gotya...Jill and Jaz and a very fine rustic oak table top...>>

As for St George, well he wasn’t English and we don’t support Dragon Hunting. So he wasn’t mentioned. We love our country dearly, but if anything, like Wales we should return to our Celtic roots and fly the Dragon Standard Once again.
